YouTube Movies The Kids Are All Right
Starring legendary actors Julianne Moore and Annette Benning is this comedy drama with a very simple yet, extremely deep storyline about human interaction, emotions and relationships. Written by Lisa Cholodenko and Stuart Blumberg and directed by Lisa Chodolenko, the movie was released in 2010 and received widespread critical acclaim. The story about an offbeat and very unconventional family who understand the importance of relationships and family, managed to touch hearts everywhere because of the light hearted comedy along with some intense drama and great performances.
The story revolves around the family of Jules (Julianne Moore) and Nic (Annette Benning) who are in a committed relationship. They have one child each, who was conceived by artificial insemination. Laser (Josh Hutcherson) and Joni (Mia Wasikowska) who are very normal teenage kids. Upon turning eighteen, Joni is about to leave to college and so both the kids beg their mothers to meet their biological father. They want to get to know him but are not sure if they want him in their lives yet. As such, acceding to their please, the father Paul (Mark Ruffalo) is introduced to the family. A farmer and resterauter, he is successful financially but is confused about his personal life and responsibilities. The rest of the movie is about how Nic, Jules and their children adjust and inculcate Paul into their lives by forging distinct relationships with him and also about Paul and how he understands about what he wants from his life, his family and the bond that holds them together.
The light hearted script, moving story and overall great performances make this movie a good watch. Annette Benning plays very well in the role of the dominant and controlling factor in the partnership while Julianne Moore plays to perfections the role of the supporting, caring and confused woman who has started and failed in many business ventures but continues to try her luck. Mark Ruffalo plays t perfection as the cool, carefree bike rider with no responsibilities and also manages to portray the changes Paul goes through after meeting and spending time with the family. The cat is supported by Kunal Sharma, Yaya Da Costa, Joaquin Garido and Zosia Mamet among others.
Produced by a team headed by Gary Gilbert and Jefferey Levy-Hinte, the entire look and feel of the movie is very fresh, contemporary and light. Overall the movie makes for great entertainment and also manages to spread a tremendous message of love, family and relationships.
