YouTube Movies The Father of My Children

Belgian award winning drama with the original name of Le pere de mes enfants, the movie was released to great critical acclaim in 2009. Centered around the affect of debt and financial loss on a family, the movie went on to receive several awards and even more nominations. The awards include the Un certain regard award at the Cannes Film Festival in 2009 and the Lumiere Award in France in 2010.Directed and written by Mia-Hansen Love, the film enthralled audiences with its compelling theme, extremely real life and gritty drama and overwhelming performances.
The movie revolves around the owner of a film studio who is doing well and is happy initially, but because of a bad project, the studio runs into insurmountable losses and the debts on the family consistently build up. The father (Louis-Do de Lencquesaing) plays the role of the happy father and extremely charming producer in the first half and also the part of the broken and extremely angry and depressed man in the second half with perfection. The mother (Chiara Caselli) is somewhat the protagonist of the movie and she takes control of the finances and the situation seeing that the husband is no longer able to cope with the stress.  The movie also shows the relationship of the kids (Alice de lencquesaing, Alice Gautier and Mannele Driss) within the family and the stress the bonds between the parents and the children go through when time goes bad. The rest of the movies centers on how the mother manages to keep the family together while also trying to get the pressure of the debt cleared, the people she has to meet and the things she has to do in order to take care of her family make up the core of the film.
The direction and writing are extremely brilliant and faultless. The entire movie on the whole flows through efficiently without any stopgaps or broken edges. The performances themselves add to the power of the movie as the male lead manages to assay roles of the happy and invincible producer and the suicidal and depressed man efficiently. The protagonist, who is the wife also plays a very dramatic and regal role and manages to capture all the loss, pain and sorrow of seeing the family disintegrate because of the financial burden. The leads are supported well by all the supporting roles and together they manage to weave a magical tapestry of love, happiness, failure, tragedy and hope.
