Written by ‘The Asylum’, Titanic II is not exactly a sequel to the movie, but more of a modern day remake of the true life disaster of the Titanic, which was originally depicted in the 1997 blockbuster of the same name. Titanic II however, combines the true life incident along with a vastly fictionalized plot to bring to the screen the same grandeur, story and drama. Released in 2010, it starred Shane Van Dyke in the lead role as the owner of the Titanic. Incidentally, he also wrote and directed the flick.

A rebuilt and re-christened ‘Titanic’, sets sail on the 100^th anniversary of the initial voyage of the grandest ship in the world. Amidst widespread speculation and apprehensions, the owner Hayden Walsh (Shane Van Dyke) inaugurates the maiden voyage and the ship sets out to sea on the same course as that of the original ship. Along the way, a Tsunami throws an iceberg in the course of the titanic. The rest of the story is about the entailing losses, lives and rescues among a sinking ship and a massive sea storm.

The characters are all original and have no reference to any of the real life characters on the ship. Known for their recreated scripts, the Asylum and writer’s such as Shane Van Dyke have a line of such mockbusters to their credit. The other major roles include Marie Westbrook in her role as ‘Amy Paige’, Bruce Davison as ‘James Maine’ and D.C Douglas as ‘Capt. Will Howard’, the captain of the ill fated Titanic II. The movie tries to depict a different angle of the damage of the titanic and also a whole host of different scenarios and people. Also, the introduction of the tsunami and the fact that an iceberg comes along its path adds to the whole aura of differential fantasy.

The movie has been produced by David Micheal Latt with Paul Bales and David Rimawi executive producers. The story was written and directed by Shane Van Dyke. The visual effects were created by the team of Kevin Hand and Mark Kochinski and Megan Nicoll did the makeup. The movie on the whole manages to tap into the legend of the Titanic, her glory and her tragedy to add elements of the modern world to produce this mockbuster. The plot of the movie essentially strives to capture the real life tragedy and drama of the monumental event and bring it to life in the context of the modern world.

A war flick set in World War II and based on true life events, Red Tails which is all set to release in 2012, is the next big budget offering from the production house of George Lucas, ‘Lucasfilm’. With extremely high end visual effects, elaborate and breathtaking flight and dog-fighting sequences and compelling performances, ‘Red Tails’ promises to be a tight, racy action flick that will enthrall audiences all over the world.

The story follows a group of African American pilots, who have been largely ignored during most of the course of the war but are suddenly called in to fight because of circumstances. They are highly mistreated , segregated and have unfit equipment, aircrafts and weapons. They are placed under the leadership on ‘Col. A.J Bullard’ a role being played by Terrence Howard and the rest of the story follows whether the crew is able to live up to the challenge or do they give in to the insurmountable odds. As is the case with any big budget George Lucas flick, the movies is filled with brilliant visual effects, extremely compelling sound effects and highly accurate art and makeup designs.

The cast, which largely consists of a brilliant panel of African American Actors head by Terrence Howard, also consists of Cuba Gooding Jr. in the role of ‘Maj. Emmanuelle Stance’, Michael B. Jordan in the role of ‘Maurice Wilson’ and Method Man as ‘Sticks’. As such, the look of the movie looks terrific and the entire plotline promises to be extremely thrilling to the audience. The visual effects and the action sequences have been given the deserved treatment and speak for themselves in trailers and pictures released.

As such, the visual effects team is huge and the development of the entire movie has taken places in several studios. The sound and art departments also have a long list of names, each being an expert in the field. The movie which contains very intense aerial combat sequences, has been designed using authentic combat sequences and actual pilot reports. The costumes and make up also are extremely in keeping with the time period.

The actual story has been written by George Lucas and John Ridley and the screenplay was given by John Ridley and Aaron McGruder. Anthony Hemingway directed the war movie and Rick McCallum and George Lucas are responsible for production of the movie. The movie is slated to release somewhere in 2012 and is ready for release.

Setting the stage for this massive epic of gigantic proportions, Marvel Studios played their cards very smartly by releasing individual superhero movies of each of the Avenger’s entourage, depicting their stories and backgrounds and more importantly paving the way for an all out battle movie, the likes of which has not and may not be seen for a long time. Starting with the ‘Hulk’, they went on the release individual movies for each of the superheroes including the ‘Iron Man’ series and ‘Captain America’.

The Avenger’, shows how the team of superheroes comes together to form a formidable group of saviors of the world. Starting out with epic challenges faced by the earth, the agency known as S.H.I.E.L.D (Heard of in the Iron Man series) headed by Nick fury (Samuel L. Jackson) brings together the set of superheroes in order to form an alliance to save the world. The rest of the movie need not be explained to any action flick fan as it is extremely easy to envisage and fantasize about. Slated for release in 2012, it is one of the biggest movies to hit the screens in the year. The team of avengers includes ‘Iron Man’, ‘The Hulk’, ‘Captain America’, ‘Black Widow’, ‘Thor’ and ‘Hawkeye’. Any comic book can fan can easily lose track of the rest of this preview, merely visualizing these superhero  idols come to life in such an unprecedented manner.

The cast includes Robert Downey Jr. in his role as ‘Iron Man’, Scarlett Johansson as ‘Black Widow’, Chris Evans as ‘Captain America’, Mark Ruffalo as ‘The hulk’, Chris Hemsworth as ‘Thor’ and Jeremy Renner as ‘Hawkeye’.  There are also several supporting roles such as Gwyneth Paltrow as ‘Pepper Potts’ and ‘Clark Gregg as ‘Agent Phil Coulson’.  On the whole, the movie, with its stellar cast promises to be an extravagance unseen and unheard of.

Needless to say, Marvel Studios has spent tons on the visual design, art, costumes and animation for the movie. The entire look of the film promises real life like experiences and action sequences. Created individually in different studios, each look, each superhero and each fight sequence has been crafted to amaze. With a production team that includes the likes of Stan Lee, Jon Favreau and Kevin Fiege, viewers can be assured of a visual and aural treat which can seldom be seen anywhere else. On the whole, from the first looks and pictures released, the movie promises full value for money and fulfillment of every Avenger’s fan’s dreams.

Comic book legend come to life, The Adventures of Tintin was every bit as thrilling and tremendous as promised. Fully animated, extremely larger than life and with compelling voice actors, the movie made a name for itself with unprecedented box office collections and reviews. The commercial success of the movie was never in question even before the release of the movie, and the fact that it was released to 3D screens made it even more bigger and better. The product of the culmination of efforts of real time Hollywood legends, the movie was every bit the adventure it promised to be.

Premiered initially in Belgium, (The Homeland of Tintin) on 23 October 2011, the movie went on to hit screens worldwide through the next few months. Playing to packed theaters, the movie grossed millions across the world. Called as the Secret of the Unicorn, the adventure starts with Tintin acquiring a model of the ship named the unicorn, and is then confronted by Mr. Sakharine who eagerly wants to buy the model from him. After secretly stowing aboard a cargo ship whose captain is Captain Haddock, Tintin discovers a plot among the crew to overthrow the captain and seize control of the ship instigated by the same Mr. Sakharine. Subsequently, Tintin and Captain Haddock along with the ever present and famous dog Snowy, reach Morocco where they uncover the truth of the secret of the Unicorn and Captain Haddock’s relation to it all. The rest of the story is about the discovery of the scrolls hidden inside the model (three in all) and subsequently leading to the treasure once buried by the captain of the Unicorn.

Produced by the likes of Peter Jackson and Stephen Spielberg and directed coincidentally by Spielberg, Tintin was given all the respect it deserved in terms of story, script, action, visual effects and drama. On the whole, the experience of the movie was complete by a fantastic set of graphics and voices. The voices were given by Jamie Bell as ‘Tintin’, Daniel Craig as ‘Sakharine’ and Andy Serkis as ‘Captain Haddock’. A flawless art design, superior sound effects and stunning treatment of visuals, the movie is a genuine marvel of technological and human brilliance technically. First created by Herge, the comic book series of Tintin has found a stunning tribute in this movie and has been extremely well received by audiences the world over.

All set to release in 2012, This Means war is being touted as a comedy of a love triangle between extraordinary circumstances. The movie has a good star cast and the plot seems very sound. Story written by Timothy Dowling and Marcus Gautesen and the screenplay written by Timothy Dowling and Simon Kinberg, the movie promises to be an action filled comedy with great action scenes, chase sequences all hilariously rolled into a very funny and awkward situation.

The story revolves around three central characters played by Chris Pine, Tom Hardy and Reese Witherspoon. The former two are a part of the CIA and are partners. They completely trust each other and have saved each other millions of times. As such, they are the best of friends. The kink in the machine comes when Reese Witherspoon starts dating both of them. Unknown to each other, they each rave about their latest date and girlfriend. Upon discovery, the partnership turns to a jealous rivalry between the two best operatives of the CIA for the girl. The girl, ignorant of the fact that the two men know each other continues to date both of them. The rest of the movie shows hilarious attempts on the part of the two men to foil each other’s dates, lives and basically win the girl.

As can be seen, the plot promises a lot of fun and is open to many great scenarios. Both actors are well cut and roughed up for their roles as the CIA operatives and Reese Witherspoon looks delectable in her role. The action sequences look well crafted and the plot in itself manages to come out extremely fast and racy. With hilarious supporting roles and a very interesting Spy vs. Spy plotline, the movie manages to tweak the interests of the audience and promises to be a smooth ride of entertainment.

Directed by McG, and produced by Will Smith and Reese Witherspoon among others, the movie looks and feels great in the trailers and the pictures. The make- up, look, styling and designing is up to par and so are the real time action, romance and comedy sequences. Slated to release in 2012, it promises to be one of the comic capers of the year and also shows great commercial value. All in all the movie can be termed as a modern day action comedy with great stars and terrific performances.

Set in New York, and depicting a tale of a very popular culture in the city of Bike messengers, Premium Rush is all set to be released as an action thriller. With a very interesting plotline and great stars, the movie promises to thrill audiences. Written and directed by David Koepp, the movie stars Inception actor Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Michael Shannon. The movie shows a fast and very compelling flow and very tight chase and action sequences. A very contemporary and modern looking film, it is filled with gritty and exhilarating bike riding sequences, stunts and a whole lot of action. Very serious in its approach the movie seems to be able to grasp audience attention and makes for a very tidy movie with a great script.

The plot revolves around the time strapped second counting world of bike messenger Wilee (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) who picks up an envelope that is to be rushed to an address before 7:00 PM. He starts off on the routine fast paced delivery but is stopped by a detective (Michael Shannon) who asks for the envelope back and upon refusal, starts to do anything in his power to hinder the envelope from reaching the address. The dirty cop, the secret in the envelope, the death defying riding sequences, stunts and tons of shooting and tension, make for a very fast script. The whole movie in fact seems to be placed only in three hours and as such makes for terrific entertainment. The story is about whether Wilee will be able to deliver the envelope within the given time or will the cop succeed in stopping him, even if it means he has to kill him.

Supporting roles are played by Jamie Chung, Dania Ramirez and Aasif Mandvi as the client who requested the delivery, a co bike messenger and the dispatcher at the bike messenger service office respectively. The whole crux of the movie however, rests on the two lead characters and the tension of the ticking clock. As such, the visual effects, the stunts and the elaborate action sequences are extremely well done and manage to keep the viewer nail biting throughout the trailer. The lead actors look very well placed in their roles and the overall feel of the movie seems extremely fast paced and tight.

Directed by David Koepp and produced by Gavine Polone with Mari-Jo Winkler as the executive producer, the movie promises to be a fast paced and gritty thriller that will have audiences wondering from the start as to what may happen next.
